Stain Removal

When it comes to stain removal, here are some key pointers to remember:

  • Clean up stains as soon as they occur.
  • Always dab the stains instead of rubbing and clean from the outsides and work your way to the middle.
  • Do NOT use hot water.
  • If you are using a stain removal method for the first time, test the method in an obscure part of the item.

Types of Stains

There are generally two categories of stains; built-up stains and absorbed stains. Most stains will be a combination of both. Always clean the built-up stain first before tackling the stain underneath.

  • Built-up stains are made by thick substances. Scrape off the deposits to prevent them from penetrating further into the material.
  • Absorbed stains will be absorbed quickly into the material, such as carpets. Always blot the area immediately to remove the excess liquids.
